Review:There were alot of times Nathaniel Hawthorne dragged on and on forever in this book. I don't mean to say it was bad, just a little boring at times. Its easy to see Nathaniel Hawthorne loves words.
One things Hawthorne is extrodinarily talented at is developing characters. Not only does he present a three dimensional of all his characters in "The Scarlet Letter" he portrays real characters. You feel as if you could walk down the street and meet Hester or Dimmesdale. It was one of the few things that made this book bearable to read.
Overall "The Scarlet Letter" was a good book, the hard part was sorting through all the hidden meanings and double meanings Hawthorne is so fond of. I would suggest reading this book at least one time...
