Review:
I really enjoyed this book by Mr. King. I haven't read IT, which is set in the same town (for the most part) but now am inclined to picking up the novel. DREAMCATCHER is the classic sci-fi story with another monster besides the alien, that of "man" in the character "Kurtz." Kurtz's character is a nice allusion to Joseph Conrad's HEART OF DARKNESS, and the story is about Jonesy's trip into his own heart of darkness. I really liked Mr. King's novel. I have only read a little over a half dozen of his books. Is DREAMCATCHER comparable to THE SHINING or his DARK TOWER series? No, but makes the last few hours before you go to sleep a lot more fun. Wonderful characters and lots of pop culture references (everything from movies, books, and te... Rest of this review on the detail page

Review:
This has got to be the most dramatic yet realistic book I have ever read. Everytime I ask people their opinions on suicide, they say they think the person was being selfish. But you must think about what drove the person to do it. Wether it was their own state of mind, bullying at school, or in this book's case, the parent's expectations and/or rules. If you hold your children too close or you expect too much from them you are going to drive them away, or make them feel like they are never going to be good enough. I think that's what this book is trying to tell people and hopefully thats the message they are getting.
