Security of computer systems

Review:
This work is intended as a general, and mostly complete, coverage of
all computer security topics. The author wishes to avoid the problem
of a number of specialized works that address only isolated subjects
within the field of security. The work is also intended for all
audiences: developers, purchasers, security experts, managers,
students, computer professionals, and even users. Just about
everyone, it seems, except the non computer-using public at large.
The book does provide a broad overview, looking at a general
introduction to concepts, the context for security, threats, policies,
models, cryptography, secure design and implementation, architecture
and operating systems, security services, database security, network
security, dis...

Reviews (1) and details of Secure Computing: Threats and Safeguards
Review:
The preface addresses how to keep data secure in a distributed
environment. Chapter one tells us that the first thing to do is

and organization chart should be before settling into a promotion of
political and marketing campaign strategies to sell security to the
executives. The asset identification portion of risk analysis is...

Reviews (1) and details of Securing Business Information: Strategies to Protect the Enterprise and Its Network
Review:Gigantically comprehensive and carefully researched, Security Engineering makes it clear just how difficult it is to protect information systems from corruption, eavesdropping, unauthorized use, and general malice. Better, Ross Anderson offers a lot of thoughts on how information can be made more secure (though probably not absolutely secure, at least not forever) with the help of both technologies and management strategies. His work makes fascinating reading and will no doubt inspire considerable doubt--fear is probably a better choice of words--in anyone with information to gather, protect, or make decisions about. Be aware: This is absolutely not a book solely about computers, with yet another explanation of Alice and Bob and how they ex...
