Book description:
What was the hardest decision that you ever had to make? That is the first question posed to the group of African-American women who provided the data for this book. The women belonged to a Philadelphia-based collective that was organized to provide support to its members and their community. The womens ages, socioeconomic status, and marital status vary, as does their responses to the interview questions. The stories are fascinating, the process was enlightening, and the results are compelling. Although the market has many books that address the problems that people face, none address real life dilemmas and logical processes people employ to resolve them. Not only will you find that there are women who have survived circumstances that most people never face, you will see that they were strengthened as a result.
