A collection of funny short travel stories. "Does your meter work" is a collection of short travel stories. The author, Jim Soliski, describes experiences on a big trip through Asia. The book starts with a foreword describing the trouble Jim had getting the book published. A somewhat weird way to start a travel book. The rest of the book is a collection of short stories, sometimes closer to the anecdote level than a complete story describing events on his travels through Asia. He describes how certain things are somewhat of a culture shock to him. The duration of his travels and his taking up jobs and getting in touch with the local people raises his experiences above the level of the simple tourist. The format of the book (short stories) makes it an easy read.
