The Virtual Bookcase Reviews of 'Novells Guide to Multiprotocal Internetworking':
Reviewer Rob Slade wrote:
This is a conceptual overview of internetworking in that it does not deal with
specific products or the technical details of frame headers and such. It is,
however, aimed at a very practical level of decision-making. It would,
therefore, be a very suitable book for those with a reasonable technical
background, who need an introduction to internetworking for planning or
management purposes.
The coverage is broadly based, with sections on the interconnections of local
area networks, wide area networks, and the management of multiprotocol
networks. An appendix lists internetworking product vendors, including a
fairly good international collection of telecom carriers. While this work is
from Novell Press, other protocols, such as TCP/IP and Appletalk, do get
mention.
This is introductory material. In order to plan effectively you will need
additional information, but at least this will start to point you in the right
direction. The material is generally accurate, but the vocabulary is sometimes
at variance with standard usage. In addition, the explanations are not always
clear, and some work must be put into the reading.
