Reviewer Rob Slade wrote:
This work provides a thorough and detailed account of the GPS (Global
Positioning System), its basic concepts, possible problems, and related
technologies. As well as general background, topics covered include the system
segments, signal characteristics, signal tracking, affects of interference,
performance, availability, integration with other technologies, the Russian
GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System), INMARSAT (International Maritime
Satellite Organization), and GPS applications. References accompany each
paper.
The book is quite reasonably organized in terms of technical difficulty. The
conceptual papers are presented first, with an advance to more demanding essays
subsequently. This volume is an outgrowth of a course originally developed for
the Boston Chapter of the IEEE in November of 1993.
