This is the finest in vampire fiction. Seriously! It's nice to see someone who can stay within the accepted guidelines for the legend of the vampire and yet still do something fresh and new. Action, sexually charged with sparkling dialogue. Nothing negative to say at all but I would warn that this isn't a book for everyone. The lesbian love storyline is done tastefully but extremely graphically. The most sexually explicit book I can ever recall reading. At times the violence is mindnumbing, but there is a serious point to the story and the complications of male/female relationships. And female/fewmale relationships. In summary this book is from the point of view of a typical red blooded American boy, he likes his sex, violence and humor all in one tight package. This book delivers and I will be the first in line for any other works published by Mr. James. Sincerely I don't understand why he isn't a big star. Perhaps he is publicity shy but someone has to push this kid to the top where he legitimately belongs.
