The Virtual Bookcase Reviews of 'Corps of Discovery: Lewis & Clark':
Reviewer Gordon Thomas wrote:"I just finished your book Corps of Discovery and in a word it was super. This book is very well written so it moves along well. Your technique of using conversation to cover a targeted incident then narrative to move the story to another section of conversation not only maintains reader interest and keeps the story from bogging down, but it also solidifies the history. Taking a considerable amount of the conversation from the journals sometimes very close to quoting and other times loose paraphrasing maintains a sense of realism in the dialogue. I was pleased and impressed by how well you stayed within the historical framework of the Expedition."
"Jim, I just now finished reading your book, Corps of Discovery. I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed it. When I got to page 480 I told Ron how sad I felt that it was ending. I cannot stop thinking about those men and how difficult every day must have been for them. I love history and am an avid reader. The book kept your promise that I would enjoy it. I have talked about it with my family. Mother and my son-in-law are first in line to read it. It kept my attention from the first line to the last word. I about wore my atlas out, looking for landmarks, rivers, and such. What fun.. what a great read. Thanks so much."
