The Virtual Bookcase Reviews of 'Say Good Night to the Moon':
Unknown reviewer wrote:I wrote this in honor of my mother and the off-the-wall family she gave me. Fortunately she liked the book and promised not to sue me. I give you Nellie, my late, but not forgotten, mother.
Nellie came from a family of Oklahoma Cowboys and Indians. Her grandfather was the cowboy and her father was the Indian. She survived the Oklahoma Dust Bowl Days, the Great Depression, assorted husbands, and history?s weirdest daughter. Her Oklahoma family consisted of the world?s strictest grandmother, a prison hangman, a local sheriff, and a few not-so-successful whiskey moonshiners.
Our Nellie had an exciting early adult life in Kansas City, Missouri, where she and one of her husbands got into the adventures of owning real estate and fighting off local mob goons. Her trip to California opened her eyes to travel and bandits. The last husband in Independence and Seattle almost got her killed.
When Nellie wasn?t playing the lady, she was playing the ponies. When she wasn?t burying a husband in the cemetery, she was burying his false teeth under a cherry tree. Prince Charming arrived a little later than she had hoped, but at least he made it. Life was seldom dull for our Little Nellie.
