The Virtual Bookcase Reviews of 'Siege of Darkness':
Reviewer Stefan Koopmanschap wrote:Though this book tries to be of the same format as Starless Night, it still has a nice element both the physical as the psychological aspects of Staress Night in it. It is not as good as it, but has a strength of its own. In a lot of cases, it is not good to keep within one exact style of writing a storyline. Progress keeps books (and an author) interesting to the reader. Still, Salvatore writes this book as a sort of combination between The Legacy and Starless Night. That makes this book a little bit boring, but Salvatore's style of writing about things makes it still an interesting book to read. If you are a huge fan of either Drizzt, or Salvatore's writing style, this is still a good book to read. If not, you might like it or might not like it, depending on your taste of books. If you haven't read any of the previous books by Salvatore, this might be a good book to start with, though The Legacy would be a more appropriate book.
