The first book in the Dark Elf Trilogy lets us meet Drizzt, but also explains to us the ways of the evil drow from the eyes of one of the persons in the middle of the society but not liking it. Salvatore perfectly explains everything in this book. Officially the Icewind Dale trilogy is the first trilogy in the Drizzt-series, but I would recommend reading this trilogy before the Icewind Dale Trilogy.
