I found this book to be a great childrens novel. I would also agree that if you are a teenager that you should also red this book. I loved the character detail and the story plot. I read it and the characters were very intresting and Rowling did an amazing Jop putting just enough information on the main character [Harry Potter]and the backround characters. I would give this book a 9.5 out of 10. Happy Reading.

I so love tis book!!! Ithink this is the best out if all of them because you really can get into Harry's emotions. You get to feel his anger, pain, worries, etc. You also get to see Sirudie which is so sad ,but I think he will come back as a gost. Hopefully!!!!!! And if you think that the 5th book is slower you all CRAZY!!!! this one goes by really fast because a lot happens. I also like how you get to see Harry fall in love for the frist time, but i'm glad hes moved on so we get to see him with more girls.

If I didn't know that the same person wrote book 5 and wrote the other 4 books I would have to say they were by different authors!! There are so very many oddities about book 5! I have read all of the books over 6 times now just to pick up on any small conflicts. There are a few questionable things in the first 4 books, but nothing major! However, in book 5, notice the change in character of Ron, Harry, and Dumbledore. Ron in book 5 uses the term "mate" referring to Harry practically once a chapter. Harry in book 5, has become arrogant his tone toward everything is totally different. I realize that it was to fit the the setting of the book, however he was totally out of character! Dumbledore who never before has made excuses for any of his actions, merely said he believed it to be for the best, breaks down in tears at the end with Harry! There is also the topic of the Thestrals. Harry could not see the thestrals after the end of book 4 after witnessing Cedrics death. However, at the beginning of book 5, Harry could see the Thestrals due to witnessing Cedrics death!
I would willing to discuss a number of other oddities if anyone wishes! A note to Rawling if you indeed have written all of these books you should review your characters for book 6, etc.

I've been reading your reviews and whoever says there are some conflicts between the books, it's because you don't concentrate when you read. And also you should wait first to see what else it will be explained in the following books. I bet there has to be much more explained, specially in the 7th. I can't wait anymore for the 6th. I hope the 6th and 7th are full of surprises. I want to feel shocked again, and happy and sometimes angry (as HP). I love the Weasly's family. I'd Harry to end up with Ginny, Hermione with...maybe Krum. I think we haven't been introduced to Ron's future girfriend (or wife?) yet. The loose of Sirius has been terrible, but I also hope we can understand it in the following books because I don't see the reason, it can't just have been an accident. Or it can be, as in the non-magical world, or even the real world. This is what I also like from HP's story: it has a magical world background but it's full with messages for its readers and also comparisions with the real world, some very accurate e.g. the ministry and its ministers, you know, all the political stuff. And the Quidditch sport, what could I say... everything is simply perfect.

I really love all HP's books. And I really like the 5th one, apart from the story which is brilliant, because it is much longer so we can all have much more to read about HP's world. What I also enjoyed from the 5th book is that it tells us more about HP's parents and how everything started. I loved the bit where we can 'see' HP's father when he's a teenager with his old friends and Lily. It'd be brilliant that JKR wrote a series about James & his friends when they were at Hogwarts. I also think that is she wanted she could write many much more stories based upon HP's.....a new series about Harry, Ron and Hermione after they have left Hogwarts; When Tom Riddle was at Hogwarts; I'd love to read stories before Harry was born and after he's left School.

I have read this book 3 times since I've had it delivered in 2003, and I've decided to write a review after going over some people's reviews of how they didn't like OotP. First of all I thought the 5th installment to the Harry Potter Series was BRILLIANT! It shows the maturity of Harry's Character, as well as the maturity of the his friends. For those of you who are inept and cannot grasp that HARRY IS GROWING UP and has had many traumatic life experiences, then all I can say is I feel sorry for you. J.K. Rowling is writing about a boy growing up, and having all these experiences and feelings as a teenager... and on top of all that, he witnessed Cedric die and Voldemort restored, is attacked by dementors in little whinnings, and no one is telling him what is going on! Who wouldn't go haywire if faced with these problems? The 5th book needed to be dark, its a continuation of the turning point in book 4 so therefore, emotional turmoil, psychological turmoil, coupled with teenage hormones.... well all leads to a very angry harry. At any rate, this book is a set up book... it sets up the tone of the 6th and 7th book, much like the two towers was the set up book for the return of the king in the LOTR series. The only complaint I have about this book is that Sirius died..... he was one of my favorite characters... and for the idiot that said Sirius' death is unimportant, well then he is obvioulsy not true fan of the series, or even an observant and sympathetic person... b/c Sirius' death is important to harry... he lost someone who is akin to a father figure and brother figure to him... THAT IS IMPORTANT. But seriously, aside from my ranting about those whose IQ levels do not permit them to appreciate the brilliance of The Order of the Phoenix, I just wanted to say that this book did not disappoint harry potter fans at all... If anything, this book fuels the hunger and desire of harry potter fans to read the next installment in the Harry Potter Series... bring on book 6! ^_^

i read the book twice and i thikn it was somewhat of a disappointment. i mean it was too hyped and it was not wrth the hype. some people may have loved it but if you read it more than once you realize there are many thingsthat dont add up to hte previous books. it is as if the plots and characters have been introduced just for the heck of adding something new in the book. for examples the thestrals why is ti that harry could see it only when he returned back to school what about when he left school at the end of the 4th year. it was no different hten that he had witnessed death. this is justone example. overall the book is ok but not as good as j.k rowlings previous book. i hope for the sake of all fans that the 6th and the 7th book is really really good and not just another media hype.

i can describe my feelings for this book in three simple words: "I LOVE IT!!!".
its an extraordinary book. i feel lucky to be able to be able to read the works of an marvellous writer J K Rowling.
as i hve read many of the authors interviews about this book, i can answer N GANESH PANDIAN'S question:
the author has said that its not important to be a prefect for being a headgirl and a headboy.
thats all.

I think this book was really good. there were a lot of twists and turns, ups and downs. i dont like umbridge. shes awful. i think that fudge had sumthin to do w/the dementors even though umbridge said it was her. making harry not play quidditch was so wrong. the d.a. was good. i wish we wouldve found out about the owls i dont think harry and hermione are going to hook up even though she kissed him in the 4th book (last page or 2) sirius death was not cool. hes already had so many deaths in his faimly. he was just lookin up to his future w/him and then she ripped it away from him. i think he'll come back in the 6th book. or maybe he'll get a portait of him (hes been talking to dead people all the time) i think harry will hook up w/ ginny or maybe even luna (he started to realize how much they are alike.) ron w/ hermione malfoy w/ padmar (patil)
