Let me start by saying I did really like this book but it is not as good as book 4. My reasons- This book was depressing. I can't think of one good thing that happened to anyone except Ron winning the game. The majority of the book is about how Harry is being tortured and how he is having trouble controlling his temper. (Who can blame him? This school year sucked from start to finish) Now before everyone whats to hang me for critizing book 5 please remember I did say I liked it, just not as much as book 4. It would have been nice for just a moment of happiness.

I have read HP and OOTP this past weekend and it is not my favorite of the series as many here have proclaimed. I guess I just prefer a "feel-good" type of book and this has been anything but that. I kept reading and reading hoping to get to a happy part and it never really happened. Well, ok, Mad Eye, Lupin and Tonks threatening the Dursley's was pretty entertaining but other than that even the end of the battle scene with Harry and Dumbledore defeating Voldemort (although temporarily I'm sure) wasn't very pleasant. I wonder how many kids are going to really understand the darkness of this book and still want to continue on reading. My hope is that this is the darkest book and the remaining 2 will start to lighten up with eventually Harry killing Voldemort in the end. I'm still holding out that my favorite of the series is Book 3. That being said you can maybe understand why this one was so hard on me.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was definitely an excellent book. I especially liked the beginning and the end, though it was very emotional with Sirius' death. I really noticed the development of the characters in this book. I bought it on the 21st and have finished it on the 23rd. My only complaint was the lack of the "dark" plot around the middle. This was a bit disappointing as the other books had dark excitement all the way through. But overall, good job JK!

After all of the media hype that was constantly going on and on about this next installment of the series...I found myself unfortunately rather disappointed in the end....I'm not saying that this isn't a good read because it is...my only problem is that she harps on and on about romance and death and there is no romance well...hardly any....and the death well it disappoints...Be warned Harry is a very and I stress VERY angry unhappy 15 year old boy and he is not afraid to voice how he is feeling anymore...Various characters grow up more in this installment and a certain absentminded character gets his chance to shine...Ron finds out that following the family tradition at Hogwarts isn't as easy as it looks...The introduction of the Order of the Phoenix is one of the best parts with new characters that I hope to see more of...Hermione convinces Harry to tudor a group of students from various houses in DADA because the new teacher royally stinks...Harry learns the truth about the scar that has made him so famous...an honor that the young wizard wishes had not been bestowed onto him...The best parts seem to always involve Fred and George Weasley you see business is really booming for the two of them and they are using this last year at school to test out their new products on their fellow students before offering them to the public...Ron and Ginny join the Quidditch team but what positions that they play is up to you to find out...The nice thing about this book is that it's a very easy read for everyone...and it was nice to touch back with beloved characters after such a long wait...here's hoping that it doesn't take her 3 more years to give us the next installment.

wow, this book was absolutely amazin.Harry certainly seems a hell of lot angrier than other books, but the storyline in thias book is brilliant. how Rowling thought it up i'll never know.i thought sirius' death was good, if not that emotional.he could have done a bit more to Cho though i think. that speech by dumbledore to harry at the end really explained a lot i thought. and i reckon that it is Harry who is going to die at the end of the seventh book, instead of voldemort. cant wait for the 6th and 7th books.

Here's another viewpoint of HP, OOP. I am an Adult (So I'd like to think :) with 2 kids Who are also Harry Potter Fans. Although I have not wrote anything in my life, I was an avid reader. In my youth, I owned over 500 books at any given time. I had stopped reading after graduate school, and I picked up reading, after I stumbled upon Harry Potter book 1, Almost a lapse of 15 years. I Stayed up Late Since I procrastinated pre ordering the book. After getting the brush off and vague answers from a Borders book store in Columbus Ohio, I camped out at my local Barnes and Noble Bookstore On Sawmill Road (Really Pleasant and helpful people, by business will always go to them, Thanks Guys, great job..). I was feeling like a kid again, getting my hands on the new book, Went home and started reading it at 12:15 a.m., and Finished 5 chapters before I went to sleep. Saturday I finished 20 Chapters, and On Sunday, the rest. I've forgotten if I actually ate or slept in between. Okay, I found a lot of things strange (or maybe I got myself way too hyped and the book did not come upto expectations within the first 20 chapters. I was puzzled quite a bit about the change of writing style. After analyzing the first 20 odd chapters, I have a feeling that either JK was in different frame of mind, or some one else contributed "ideas". The reason is, Why the heck is Harry so angry all the time? Also the vocabulary has changed quite a bit. The use of the word "mate", though common in Britain, this was not evident in the First 4 books, (perhaps the US edition had changed a bit from the British Edition?). Also some inconsistencies in Events, when compared to previous books. James Potter and Lily Evans were Head Boy and Head Girl? (from book 1, as per Hagrid) If James was not a Prefect, how come he became the Head boy? According to most British Educational Institutions, Head boy is chosen from an Existing Prefect (i.e Percy Weasley., Possible spoiler.. so read book 5 to see why I say this). The writing does change back to JK's "old school" of writing towards the end, and the book becomes interesting. IMHO, I found book 4 to be a lot more exciting read than book 5.

I bought OOTP on 21st and finished on the 22nd! I could not put the book down. JK, has indeed done it again, although i will agree with above comments on the darkness of this book. I found that she dealt with the teenage angst that occurs very well, and was infact spot on. It was good to see Harry not really taking it on the chin any more. Feelin the total unjustice of his life. I mean, i would be ragin mad if i had lived that over the last four years. The way JK has also layered the storyline again is brilliant. You have the main plot, which is harry ending up facing Vodermort, but then there are all these little sub plots, which the majority of are concluded as the story progresses. 3/4 of the way through the back, it feels like we are back in any of the other books. Harry working hard not to fail at school, his scar hurting, learning more secrets of hogwarts. One of my favourite things was dumbledores army. I love the fact that there is almost a mini order of phoenix! You can feel the camaradari between characters. I feel that its fantastic that you get an insight in more depth of the other characters. Professor McGonangall's fire, Snape's Bullying. UMBRIDGES pure and utter stupidity. Th two most heart wrenching parts of the book, were indeed sirius's death, and Dumbuldores speech. I think i cried more at what dumbldore had to say. You could feel how totally burdened he felt Harry was. How the unfairness overwhelmed Dumbledore, and yet Harry had been knocked down, time and again. but when the dust had cleared. He was still standing. JK is now giving us a small insight as to what life must have been like when voldermort was at his height 15yrs previously. There would be no parties. No warmth, Light or hope. It would be dark. They would be forced to hide. Life would be depressing and draining. But then harry stopped it all. Harry is once again alone. But there is a difference. He now knows his purpose. Which is a hard and bitter pill to swallow. Its one thing pulling Hexes and Jinx's out the bag. Its another to kill someone. And ESPECIALLY at 15 yrs of age. The end of JK's books normally leave me with a smile on my face. Even GOF left me with a small one. There was no Smile this time. Only an empty numb feeling of the predictable tradgeries that are yet to come. Well done JK, for this truly amazing piece of Magic. Bring it on JK, Bring it on.

It took me just under 15 hours to read the 5th harry potter book. Im 21 and I think it is brilliant. Fabulous. I love the way J.K uses CAPS when harry's shouting as this is what kids do when chatting online to show they're angry. I hated Mrs (hem hem) Umbridge more than I do the Durslesy! I dont know what book some people read but there is not sex into at all!!! Harry get one/two kisses, and thats it. In the end he's just very confused about the way in which the female brain works, whick is how it should be for a 15 year old boy! There is very little violence over all. Just one huge fight scene! and a little dementor action but thats it! I love all the stuff with the DA. The death didnt make me cry but the head master speach made me cry. I read a review in some sunday news paper and the guy didnt get it! They go on about a weapon, and the reviewer in the paper said that you were left wondering what it was. He guy didnt' seem to realise that knowledge in power! The dark lord was after information which could provide away of killing harry. No actual physical weapon exists and the grown adult just didn't get it!! Do not skip any pages. read if fully are you will get confused. (that last bit for the adults who seem to have forgotten how to effectively read a book!!)

Hi I am done with Harry Potter book 5.... and there's no need to talk on and on about how great the book is -- the other reviews here should suffice. I've been scrolling down the reviews, and it looks like many versions of fake Harry Potter books have been circulating around before the release date. Where do you find those? I'm curious to see how well the fake JK Rowling authors have mangaged to carry the story along.
