Review:Silent Lies is a historical thriller--a real page turner. The protagonist, Leo Hoffman, has a gift for languages. After his life and his country are destroyed by World War I, he inadvertently gets involved in an international counterfeiting scheme. At that point he has to get out of town, indeed, off the European continent! He goes to Shanghai to try and create a new life for himself and his beloved Martha, but his decision to do business with the head of the Green Gang has unforeseen consequences. So when the Japanese invade, Leo has to come to terms with his life of lies. Silent Lies is romantic, suspenseful, and a very fun read.
